Or you might remember vivid details about the book's plot and characters - virtually everything except that much-needed title or author.

Some books come up on discussion boards with such surprising frequency, you have to wonder how such a well-loved book could be out of print. And many of them are out of print. However, all hope is not lost.

Little Witch

Little Witch
by Anna Elizabeth Bennett, originally published in 1953.

Summary
Minx is a lonely little witch. Her "mother," Madame Snickasnee, won't let her go to school with the other children. Instead, she turns the boys and girls who dare to bother her into potted plants. Minx decides to sneak out, anyway.

When Minx sees the beautiful lady in the mirror, she must know who she is. She and her new friends from school concoct potions while Madame Snickasnee is out, trying to conjure the lady, but instead they meet all kinds of magical creatures. Meanwhile, Madame Snickasnee is under suspicion of having something to do with all the missing children. When Minx says the right magic words, she is finally reunited with her real mother.
