Summary
Jud's family inherits both a mystery and a great gray house in 1906 San Francisco. Who is responsible for the strange happenings? Who would want to tamper with his rich uncle's dusty library and why? Jud discovers a secret about the library and a blood stain on the floor and nearly succeeds in solving the mystery just before the great San Francisco earthquake and fire wipe out every clue forever.
